What is Dopa-Responsive Dystonia?
Dopa Responsive Dystonia is a general term used to classify a group of movement disorders that are effectively treated with L-Dopa drugs like Sinemet®. Unfortunately, very few doctors are aware of DRD, so it is often mistakenly diagnosed as Cerebral Palsy (CP) or some other related condition. If your or your child has been diagnosed with CP but have a normal brain scan (MRI), ask your doctor about DRD.
Harrison & Gracie Colegrove spread DRD awareness on GMA in 2002.
